Area 4 Competitions
Competing as a club at Area 4 events is fantastic and I think a great opportunity. Area 4 and the events they organise are run by volunteers, therefore as part of entering the club into these events we are asked to provide helpers otherwise we cannot compete. It can be a real struggle to get helpers and it often end up being the competitors themselves or their mums/grooms/friends that end up rushing round on the day just so that we get to compete.
We have had some fantastic volunteers in the past who have no intention of ever competing on behalf of the club, but they still have packed the picnic and given up their Sundays to help. This year to try and relieve the last minute pleas we have decided to ask that everyone who wants to compete in a Area 4 competition should also help at an Area 4 competition. There are plenty of events throughout the year so it makes sense that if you compete in the horse trials you help at the show jumping etc. With this is mind if you do want to compete on behalf of the club (and I hope you do!) the team manager will be asking for your commitment to help at another Area 4 event. Most of you already do this and more so I don’t think it will cause too many problems. If anyone has any questions please talk to Cher, Nicki or myself. Thanks in advance for your commitment and help.
Also another rule carrying on from last year is that although the club pays for the majority of the entry fees. Competitors will be asked to contribute 20% of the fee.
P.S. Your hat will need to be tagged by riding clubs (BE tags will not do) and body protectors will need to be level 3 and no older than 2000.
